Thanksgiving Turkeys

So Katie and I decided that having half a dozen birds wasn’t enough, well I decided and “convinced” Katie.  At any rate…  we bought turkeys for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Figure 2 – Two of the turkeys at about two months of age.


Figure 3 – These are Bourbon Red Turkeys theoretically named for Bourbon County Kentucky and developed in the late 1800’s.

Although not the smartest birds in the world, they are rather quick and based upon personal experience I can tell you that once they get out of their pen, very reluctant to go back in.  Not sure what a grown man chasing turkeys around the yard looks like, but apparently it is very entertaining to little girls.
